We had a blast last weekend volunteering at California Care Force in Sacramento! CCF is an organization that provides dental, medical, and vision services to uninsured individuals at no cost. Many individuals lined up as early as 4 AM to be seen. We love giving back to the community. See you next year!
 This past evening, we joined the San Mateo County Dental Society for the very first general meeting. After meeting some familiar faces and many, many new faces, we are excited to join this group of superstar dentists!
Our continuing education course tonight was on osteoradrionecrosis and jaw reconstruction - a hugely important topic for patients undergoing treatment for oral cancer and bone destruction. You never know when these cases will walk into your office, so it is critical to keep up-to-date on modern medicine in order to better serve our diverse community! Dental societies are optional to attend, but they remain an excellent way to stay current on issues and advancements in our field. Our members have anywhere from a few months to over four decades of dentistry wisdom in the books - an amazing resource to have! Next stop: California Careforce!  No fluoride, no fun. While health food stores carry a variety of fluoride-free toothpaste and mouthwash, the BEST option is already probably sitting on your bathroom sink!
There are many articles condemning fluoride as being toxic, but anything in excess can be toxic--even water. In appropriate amounts fluoride helps make your teeth stronger and more resistant to forming cavities. All in all, fluoride is your friend! |
